Product Description
Polyquaternium 7 is conditioning, and it has an absolutely incredible skin and hair feel. In hair products it gives substantivity without build-up and improves comb-through. It is advertised as having “very good compatibility with many anionic surfactants”, making it useful in body washes and shampoos. Generally speaking, it makes your projects feel divine and leaves skin and hair feeling silky smooth and conditioned without any hint of greasiness. It also functions as a film former, helping keep the skin and hair moisturized.
Polyquaternium-7 is a quaternary ammonium, hydrophilic synthetic chemical compound, It is cationic and has a stable chemical structure. In its liquid form, the compound is clear or pale yellow in color. Polyquaternium 7 is a very good detangler and provides slip for easier wet-combing. In addition, it will add softness and shine to dry hair.
Polyquaternium-7 imparts a smooth velvety feel and improves slip and moisturization in skin and hair care products. It is used in an array of products: shampoos, creams, body lotions, body wash, baby shampoo, bubble baths, conditioners, soaps, and shaving cream. It can be used in anhydrous products as well.
Skin care: It is used in skin care formulations to improve glide, provide softness and hydration
Hair care: As a conditioning agent, it helps detangle hairs and keep them soft. It has film-forming and antistatic properties thus provides continuous coverage while preventing frizz, improves wet combing and detangling of hair

Formulation application suggestion
1.Broad Compatibility
DioKat® M550 demonstrates excellent compatibility with most anionic and amphoteric surfactants, It is ideal for use in shampoos, body washes, and cleansers where stable rheology modification is required.
2. Processing Recommendations
For optimal performance, DioKat® M550 can be incorporated during the cooling phase of production (typically at temperatures below 50°C).
Gentle mixing is sufficient; high-speed shear is not required, helping to preserve viscosity and stability.
3.Special Considerations for Carbomer & Acrylic Systems
In formulations containing carbomer or acrylic-based rheology modifiers, it is recommended to add DioKat® M550 after the carbomer has been fully neutralized.
This ensures uniform dispersion and prevents potential viscosity fluctuations or gel instability.
4. Additional Notes
Always conduct compatibility testing when combining with new surfactant blends.
For cationic systems, evaluate stability under intended pH and ionic strength conditions.
